Interesting and enlightening though the recent discussions have been, a way forward does not seem to have been presented for Cajun UK. My final thought is for a concerted effort to be made to enrol sub paying members nationwide and then invite those who thought they could, to host the live bands in different parts of the country. Local 'scenes' could then put their ideas into action to get a good crowd out and of course do all the local publicity, booking the venue etc. We up in North Yorks would be prepared to host one and to travel wherever possible to other venues. Any other offers? Perhaps 2 or 3 in a year would be ample to test this out.
By the way I have been a bit surprised at some of the flack directed towards the dancers. I can instance many who were first turned on to CZ through seeing the dancing. Surely all of us who love the music and culture should be pulling together to keep it alive in this country.
