I’m fairly new to Cajun/Zydeco dancing, one of my 1st adventures was going to part of the Gloucester festival this year where I heard Lil’ Jim play Zydeco with some “old boys” – fantastic! I enjoyed myself so much then that I decided to go to Petite et Grosse (think it should be Gros for a boy really!) at the Cajun Barn in June. What a wonderful evening! Although not up to speed with the subtleties of this style of music and dance I recognise a great dance band when I hear one – and Petite and Grosse is one of these – and apparently their 1st gig too – amazing! Dancers and musicians building each other up over the night – perfect – definitely worth catching them where you can, and good enough reason on their own to go to the Bristol Festival in October.
