We saw the Pine Leaf Boys on Thursday April 26 2007 during the Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage week, and again on the following Saturday at the Festival International de Louisiane performing their Cajun Drinking Songs set. They are playing over here this summer (See National Gigs List). They are a pedigree band from Lafayette, and include Wilson Savoy, Ann’s son. The sets they played were absolutely stunning and we would urge you not to overlook this tour. The most convenient gig for Cajun UK folk appears to be the one at Loughborough Town Hall on Monday 9th July 2007 at 7:30. One fifth of the tickets for this concert have been sold already, two months before the gig. I am told the seating layout will be cabaret-style, presumably allowing room for dancing. Please do visit http://www.pineleafboys.com where you can read the full story and hear some live recordings.
