I was reminded of the maxim ‘dance like no one is watching’, last week when listening to the Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs. The castaway said that a big regret of his life had been that he had never been able to dance. So one of his chosen records was one he could dance to on his desert island with no one there to watch!
The Strictly Come Dancing show has got a lot of people interested in dance and as good as it has been we know that this is dancing for show and done as a performance. Those of us who dance CZ do it as if no one is watching – we dance for our partner on the floor at the time. I am sure a lot of people who would like to dance would prefer our sort of dancing and with Gloucester coming up we should be encouraging newcomers to give it a go. We need to maintain a healthy and growing CZ dance scene in order to sustain our bands, gigs, and festivals in the UK for the future.
A Happy New Year to all and may it be filled with loads of great CZ music & dance.
Glyn
