Oh yes we really did see and hear THE BEST of CZ at Gloucester this year! Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys were simply stupendous, appearing throughout the weekend in all sorts of different guises (including late night sessions going on until after 4am!) Their presentation in the cinema on Saturday morning was a joy for all who were able to behold. If Steve is not a super star I don't know who is. At various times during the weekend he could be seen playing accordion, fiddle, guitar and drums all to the highest quality. All the British bands and artists were also magnificent - as were the dancers! And yes so much of this gigantic success is down to Chris Hall - no one else could have pulled it off to this extent. His obvious close friendship with the world's top Cajun band was a major contribution to this highlight of the decade so far. I am still coming down to earth.
