Reports To: Program Director Department: Murry Bergtraum High School
Working Days: Monday to Friday Hours: 4-6 hours during the hours of 3pm-6pm.
The YWCA of the City of New York After School Program at Murry Bergtraum High School is a dynamic program that works to help students develop intellectual curiosity, academic ability, and social values to ensure success in school, career and life. Our core mission is to empower women and eliminate racism.
Primary Responsibilities:
2. Plan and implement club curriculum including a final project or performance for each club term
3. Help provide a safe positive environment for youth by ensuring school safety protocol is met for each club meeting and students are supervised at all times
4. Submit all required paperwork including participant enrollment form, attendance sheets, and monthly activity plan log in a timely manner
5. Encourage and develop leadership skills by electing student club leaders to support active student engagement in program design
6. Develop and recruitment and outreach strategy with Program Director to ensure regular student attendance in club activities.
7. Encourage academic success by regular checks on academic progress (including review of schedule, tests, and each cycle’s report card)
8. Assure that any areas used by our program are left clean and tidy when activities are complete.
9. Document and track student progress to share with program administration and staff
10. Plan and chaperone special field trips as needed.
11. With these specific responsibilities related to your club focus: To assist organizing chess meets, provide stimulating chess curriculum to help players improve; register for competitions, etc
12. Encourage academic progress by regular reviews of students’ schedule, test scores, and each cycle’s report card
13. Attend monthly staff meetings mandatory
