Hi all, thanks for responses, sorry took so long to get back. Your dogs all sound just like Ax, with the exception of stoping the licking when told to do so. I always talk to him like I would any human, sometimes saying "no!" harshly if I've asked over and over to no avail. The vet said the licking also goes along with the nervous/timid personality. He suggested prozac. I don't think so. Not willing to medicate him for being annoying. Some one asked if I baby talked him, well yes, sometimes. He's afraid of his own shadow tho. The other day got new appliances in kitchen, lots of noise, activity etc.. He wouldn't come in to kitchen and eat for two days afterwards! Had to move his food bowl to him! I think he was well socialized as pup, I got him at 9 weeks. Took him every where with me, he loves to meet new people. Except big men, they scare him, will cower. I wonder if I had him neutered too soon? He was six months. I can accept his personality fine, but would be willing to do anything neccessary to give him more confidence if possible. Sorry for rambling and bad syntax.
