Posted by rose on 4/2/2003, 6:39 pm, in reply to "excessive licking/grooming" i now have a 4yr old female who also is a major couch licker and she lays on the couch, pulls her blanket into a wad between her front paws and sucks on it..and her paws move like shes nursing. she also starts drooling when she knows shes going in the car and eventually will throw up on me or will put her head on my shoulder when shes done and slimes me! shes also kinda wimpie and has never been hit or probably even yelled at. She used to be afraid of flies, and if you sneezed, shes not as wimpie as she used to be so maybe he'll grow out of it. let me ask you this,,what is your tone of voice with him? Normal , like your regular voice or the voice you would talk to a baby in? I do the baby talk. ive had 2 dobes that i raised from a puppy who were very sweet and smart and very trustworthy and one that i rescued who was mean and scary alot of the time and he was raised by someone with a very harsh tone. The reason im asking is because i think i make them wimpie by the way i talk to them. id much rather have the wimpie than the other.... i also got them from byb so dont feel bad.. my last two lived until 11 and 17..and yes that last number was 17.... good luck
