I never had too much of a problem with licking the furniture but whenever mine would do something that was undesirable, I'd use the word "no". I don't try to overuse the word though, like having children, you use that word too much and they tend to start ignoring it. One of my dobies did have a "hotspot" and would lick it to the point that he'd have a bald spot. We were told to try putting something undesirable on the spot to get him to stop such as vinegar or something to that effect. We did try this but it failed so we reverted back to the word "no" and that did the trick. Good luck!

My males always did the same thing. That slurping sound is extremely irritating when you're trying to sleep. My female does the same thing on occasion but not as often as the males.
