Hi all, am new here. I have a 3 yr old male dobie. Let me just get this out of the way; I am guilty of purchasing him from a byb. Unfortunately, I bought first, educated myself later. That being said, I realize the reprecussions of such an action in the problems I have with my Axel. He is very timid and very nervous. He cowers when I go to pet him around the face although he has never ever been struck by me or anyone else. Although these traits are unfavorable and most likely due to irresponsible breeding, I am fully commited to my dog and wouldn't give him up for anything. He really is a lovely dog, just not the personality we had expected. The problem that drives me crazy is his excessive licking. When he gets in bed with me at night he will groom himself for at least 30min, then starts licking the bed. He licks the couch all the time too. I mean all the time. Anyone ever have this problem? Anything I can do to curtail it? Thanks in advance for any advice. Axelsmom
