Posted by Belinda on 6/7/2002, 5:42 am To help in fixing a dogs coat though does take time and I would start with Echinacea capsules in their food, double the dose for 2 weeks and then back to normal.......add more fish oil than normal and add sesame oil and evening primrose oils to their meal as well. When bathing your dog, rinse with a weak solution of Lavander oil in water..do not rinse off and allow to dry naturally. This kills any mites or other problems that may be in their skin. It doesn't have to be a strong solution, but make sure the oil you use is pure and not watered down.
Evening Primrose Oil Capsules. After listening to many people saying how it doesn't work, I took all the dogs off it for a month and Jess's coat wasn't nearly as nice as when she was on it. I still give a mixture of oils with their meal and about 3 months ago decided to try the BARF diet....I'll never go back to dry food again
Honestly, the difference in their temperaments and coats is astounding. This also includes Jessie, who turned 12 on March 11 and although has her ups and downs, is still a very active and happy little girl. All the dogs crave their dinner like nothing I've ever seen, yes, they loved their meal before, but this is so different and they all adore and look forward to their meal so much. If you would like a list of what our dogs eat, let me know and it shall be your's
