Very touching legend. There are a quite a few of us, a tad nutty perhaps, who really do share our lives with our dogs...and then there are those who merely "own" dogs. They will never know (or care) what they have missed, and their lives are considerably less because of their indifference to the inner connection of all species on earth. To spurn and cast off the love of a dog, whether through cruelty or ignorance, not only is a sad example of our throw-a-way society, but a reflection of the lack of feeling in a lot of people. "It's only a dog" is their motto. Maybe I'm an soft-hearted idealist, but I'd much rather be that, than a cold hard personality.
