Posted by Ronna on 7/29/2001, 10:30 pm If buying from a byb, a message could be sent saying that it's okay to continue their breeding practices as people will buy these pups. But..... if no one is buying from a byb, possibly they will discontinue breeding. Of course, we can only hope that they would stop instead of continually doing this, causing more pups being sent to rescue or worse. Now, I'm not all that familiar with rescue as we have no such organization here in Western New York. Assuming that the previous owners have no idea what becomes of their pups and/or dogs, I could see a difference. First, getting a pup or dog from a rescue is not only giving this poor animal some well deserved love and a home but it also is helping to support the rescue organization that is putting so much of its time into helping these poor animals. I'm assuming that most Rescue Organizations run strictly by donations. By getting a dog/pup through rescue, we are actually helping to support them. It is also my assumption that Rescue's do screen potential owners so I would hope that the adopted dogs/pups are going to good homes and not just any "Tom", "Dick", or "Harry". Of course, we all know that there are some real good "cons" out there that could sell themselves as "saints". Of course, I could go on and on but I think you get the jist of what I'm trying to say. There are so many if's and but's I could add but to be truthful, I'm in a very lazy mode tonight and I'm pooped out! hehe!
Some thoughts....
