Posted by Linda C I just found your board by searching google. I hope you don't mind some questions and a couple pics. I have a red dobie male that is now almost 16 months old. He is an awesome dog. He has grown MUCH more than I anticipated but I honestly don't care cause he is not for show. Just my love any tips, suggestions, comments are all welcomed and appreciated. AGAIN, please be honest with how he fits, or misfits, the standard. It honestly is ok both him and my son look real thrilled don't they This one is several months old but shows his head better. He was probably 12-13 months there Thanks guys and oh..........Nice to meet you all.

Hi all,
So, please answer honestly. You can not hurt my feelings in the least. I love him no matter what but would like to know how far off standard he is. Dante is almost 16 months again in the pictures and weighs 90 pounds, we think. One scale said 110 and the other 90 so i'll say 90. He moves at mach 10 most the time. In fact when you try to hold him still for pics (as you will see) he doesn't like it much, lol. To me Dante has VERY long legs. He is still gorgeous (pictures dont do him justice, he just shines) though. I believe he is done growing taller, i think, but i'm wondering if dobes do like mastiff breeds and his chest will drop some more? He is my first doberman and I feel lucky to have him. He has an EXTREMELY high prey drive. Can you tell me what kind of work I can do to keep him busy? I have enough room to set up a small agility course in the back for him but limited funds so would have to build one or find them for dirt cheap somewhere. do you think that would be enough work for him? Also how do you handle the prey drive? He is never loose from me or our home, fence or cars but sometimes dumb cats, lol, squeeze thru the fence and I just pray they make it back out. Dante is not a barker and will not bark to warn. He just has this stare that I can read that says "mom, something ain't right here" When someone comes to the door he does not bark either. But he is in front of me (forces himself there) when I open the door. Lots of questions I know but he needs to be working. He is not going to be happy unless he is. He loves to lay on the couch in the evening for an hour maybe with me but that's about it. He needs worked.
I find it helpful so that when I get another I will be more informed on the correct conformation of the dog![]()
