I can't bless the visit of Pope John-Paul II. This is the decision of the Holly Synod and I can't break it. So said for 'Standart' [Bulgarian] Patriarch Maxim , who is in Plovdiv at present, for the visit of Oecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The head of the Bulgarian Church flatly refused that the delicate topic was debated during his talks with the Oecumenical Patriarch.
