Posted by Pamela March 19, 1990 I had a baby girl. March 19, 1991 I was 7 months pregnant with second baby when my arm brushed against a lump. My OB/GYN thought is was just an infection and spent a month trying to cure that lump. By the time an actual biopsy was done, I was Stage III and 8 months pregnant. My son was delivered on 3/22/91 and I was given a few weeks to heal before starting chemo. In those few weeks my cancer spread quickly outside the breast and I was borderline Stage IV - and way past terrified. My son was born with Hirschbrungs Disease, which required him to have a colostomy when he was ten days old. Believe me - I was feeling like Job was an amateur compared to me! My oncologist says that Hollywood couldn't make a movie out of what happened to me because no one would believe it. Now - 14 years later - I remain cancer free. My children are strong and healthy. All of my health problems now are a result of the cancer treatments I did - not the cancer. The long term effects of chemo and radiation are just being looked at as more of us survive, but I wouldn't trade seeing my kids grow up for anything! God bless - we survive AND endure.
