Fifteen years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 2 bc--5 positive lymph nodes and a 2.5 cm very aggressive tumor. I had two preschoolers. i went through 6 months of chemo (CAF) and was terrified that I would not live to see my babies go to kindergarten. This fall I am now sending one of my preschoolers to college! Many, many women with severe bc survive. Two years ago I had DCIS in the other breast and chose to have it removed (too much stress!). Found out I am BRCA 1+ at that time so also had an oopherectomy. Breast cancer actually now seems like a distant memory--just a small part of who I really am. Those of you who are just in the midst of treatment, hang on. As time goes on you will get your life back.
