I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34 in 2001; I underwent mastectomy, chemo, radiation followed by long term hormonal therapy. I had a 3 year old daughter and planned on more kids but after being put into menopause for so long thought I could never have more children. Unexpectedly, this summer I found out at the ripe old age of 42 that I am pregnant with a son, due in December. Thankfully, I remain cancer-free (as far as anyone can tell) and am overjoyed at this re-affirmation of normalcy and new life that most take for granted.
