THIRD READING – EURYMACHUS and ANTINOUS
EURYMACHUS
Bring me some horse.
ANTINOUS
You’re drunk. We don’t eat horse. Do we?
EURYMACHUS
I’ll eat anything when I’m hungry.
ANTINOUS
You’ll eat anything when you’re not.
EURYMACHUS
The stomach expects it. Have you ever seen the inside of a man?
ANTINOUS
In battle, there was a wounded…
EURYMACHUS
I once tied a dead man’s gut to a post and fastened the other end to a messenger boy and sent him off. He walked for more than a mile and it still didn’t snap. It’s elastic! There’s no limit to what you can trough, and once you’ve stretched your appetite like that, it’s no good just eating a light snack. Your stomach demands more. (shouts) Bring me some horse!
