Posted by Webmaster on September 12, 2007, 11:57 pm Audition info: Performances: January 18, 19, 25 & 26 and February 1 & 2, 2008 at 8 pm We are seeking a diverse cast of male and female actors between ages 18 and 70. Additionally, a small “chorus” of actor/dancers is needed to play a variety of roles. Prepare: Short 1-2 minute Shakespearean monologue that is not from this play. There may also be cold readings from the script. Those interested in the roles of Ariel, Caliban or the chorus should be prepared for a general movement audition. PLEASE NOTE: The rehearsal period overlaps the Thanksgiving and December holiday season,

January 20 & 27, 2008 at 2 pm
All roles are open and the traditional gender breakdown is not necessarily being followed.
Characters:
Prospero: the rightful Duke of Milan, but usurped by his brother Antonio.
Alonso, King of Naples: involved in a plot against Prospero, giving Prospero's dukedom to Antonio. Father of Ferdinand.
Sebastian: brother to Alonso, cursed with a flawed nature.
Antonio: usurped the dukedom of Milan from his brother Prospero.
Miranda: Prospero's teenage daughter, intelligent and headstrong; raised on the island.
Ferdinand: Alonso's son, and heir to the kingdom of Naples.
Ariel: Prospero's spirit helper, a powerful supernatural being whom Prospero controls completely.
Gonzalo: councilor to the king, and an honest man as well; optimistic, good-tempered, and loyal.
Adrian and Francisco: noblemen, and companions of Alonso who are shipwrecked with the rest.
Caliban: Prospero's servant and native to the island; regarded as sub-human, but has a capacity for poetry and understanding beauty.
Trinculo: consistently drunken jester and servant of Alonso's; a dull fool mostly, and providing a good deal of comic relief.
Stephano: Trinculo's friend, a consistently drunken butler.
Boatswain: Right hand to the ship master, in control of the workings of the ship.
Iris, Ceres, Juno, Nymphs, Reapers: spirits of the island.
so be aware of all possible conflicts at the time of auditions.
