Posted by David I know that wins are tougher to predict, but given that Brown is gone (Nomo may be moved up in the rotation drawing tougher assignments) and the LA offense is still putrid, his difficulties may only increase this year; especially in the wins department. I'd move him sooner rather than later. --Previous Message--

I also agree with the godfather that you should shop him and not just when keeping in mind the 2nd half indicators and the recent announcement about the surgery.
: Nomo's half season splits already showed that
: there was a problem after the All Star Break.
: His ERA went from 2.41 to 3.98, command from
: 2.1 (k/bb) to 1.5 and his opposition batting
: average soared by over 60 points. The news of
: the surgery shoud not have been a surprise.
: Overall, his indicators for a 35-year-old
: have been in decline anyway. This added
: health concern increases his risk. Nomo will
: be on my GAMBLES list next month. He's the
: perfect guy to talk up his 16-win, 3.09
: season as you actively shop him.

: How much of a concern is the fact that the
: Dodgers just revealed that Nomo had surgery
: in October to "clean up" his
: rotator cuff and labrum? I know he had some
: trouble with the cuff at the end of 2003. I
: just acquired him in a trade, and now wish I
: had this info first. I guess I am looking at
: it in 2 ways- either he had trouble last year
: and I should be happy he got it all taken
: care of OR that the surgery is just the
: beginning of more problems for him. What
: does everyone think?
