Something to keep in mind -- Juan Gonzalez has a no-trade clause, which he would have to waive for TEX to trade him.
: : --Previous Message--
: He came up first in 2000 and had an impact in
: AL only leagues, stealing 13 bases in only
: 182AB over the last couple months. He
: only hit .225 though. He hit .214 in 2001
: and stole 7 bags.
: He has fought through major injuries (I
: believe leg...knee?) the last year or two
: and is back at full health now. He missed
: about half of last year and only got 31 AB
: with BAL. I think he got about 200 at AA
: and hit about .250.
: So...he could run before the leg injuries and
: is supposedly full health. Before the
: injuries he did not hit real well for
: average.
: Right now he is hitting .424. He hit .303 at
: AAA in 175AB this year with 6SB and 1HR.
: I suspect a precipitous dropoff in production
: is a plausible outcome. I'd trade him if
: i could get value for him.
: I'd do the Franklin + Matos for Juan Gone in
: a heartbeat if you don't need the SP.
: Franklin's BPI's have been weak and he has
: been lucky. I still like him and I think
: he posted a PQS 5 in his last start, so
: maybe he will turn it around. Still...you
: win this trade if Juan can stay healthy.
: : About Juan, don't forget the last part of
: his name: "gone." If TX starts
: shopping vets for, say, I don't know,
: MAYBE PITCHING, what ones will they deal?
: I have Matos, and would trade him for some
: one a few years down the development curve
: if I could, but, maybe BAL finally is
: figuring the new kids are a better story
: than their Ripken-lite vet squad that is
: BORING. I think Matos will be a good B to
: B+ outfielder, but, not worth keeping at
: the expense of even finishing in the money
: this year.
