Dunn Rumor a Deke for Brian Giles?

I think the rumor is bunk. Doesn't make any sense. The A's are a notoriously anal-retentive team about plate discipline and Adam Dunn isn't exactly Rod Carew (although his OBP is decent). He's having a hard enough time hitting his weight, although when he does make contact, the ball often sails into the cheap seats. Sounds like Dave Kingman.
Here's a theory. It's no secret that Billy Beane absolutely loves Brian Giles. Could the A's be leaking some erroneous rumors about Dunn in order to get the Pirates to budge on Giles? After all, Cincy is a Central Division rival, right?
Might sound odd, but stranger things have happened.
