My grandfather Mitchell Horne was a slave and born with the name of Mitchell Monroe on May 20, 1855 in Anson County, NC. Joel Horne purchased my grandfather and changed his name to Mitchell Horne. My grandfather worked in his home and died about 1935 or 1936.
I just came across your web site and was surprised that none of my family saw this first.
Please help us detmine our family tree, owner's prior to Joel and what location of Africa we could have been transported from. We celebrated my Aunt's 96th birthday last month. She is the last of her 21 brothers and sisters.
Any information would be appreciated.
