dear dave ,i am aware of your efforts regarding the shipwreck of the general grant even from my widow's roost on the pacific coast of california!!i research archival and otther more arcane sources with regard to manila galleon sites, spanish colonial wrecks and sinkings of a more dastardly sort!!i count bartholomew sharp as one of my relatives ;so i feel somewhat akin to the affinity to the subject of gold ,silver ,treasure, emeralds and the like.i once met some of mel fisher's divers, they showed me a video of what they were diving on presently!!i told them that they had stumbled on a complete royal french fleet of 18 ships that had ground onto a reefof shoals called the aves off of venezuela!!the admiral's ship was the "terrible'"under de pointis and the marshal of the land troops for an invasion of peaceful dutch-held curacao was the count de estrees,a french courtieur with a penchant for disaster at sea!!they thot that they had found only one mysterious vessel of uncertain flag!!the royal payroll for the french marines went down with the fleet!!a single coin that is set beneath the masts,as a good luck offering to neptune,an old shipwrights' custom can be worth tens of thousands of dollars!!no malia galleon ever sailed with less than five billion dollars in "non-perishable cargo"!!!you gotta know your history!!that's what i do!!e-mail me sometime mate!!read my posts on this stream and welcome to it!!greg sharp ,your humble servant, gov!
