Good Morning,
I am a Roman Catholic living in Bethlehem. I recently established a family owned inbound Travel Agency with the main purpose of encouraging Christians as a whole and Catholics in particular to travel to The Holy Land and spend a few nights in Bethlehem.
Our agency offers tourism services in Palestine, Jordan and Israel for pilgrims and individual travelers.
We live mainly from tourism. Most of our small hotels restaurants souvenir shops cottage industries are family run businesses. When tourism is down those families have very little work. Unfortunately the groups who visit only spend a few hours in Bethlehem.
In recent years Bethlehem witnessed a migration of Christians in general to other countries seeking jobs and a better quality of life.
However, when we receive Tourists who spend a few nights in town our local economy gets a tremendous boost.
It is only a matter of time this exodus of Christians will leave very few families here.
I am writing to the Assyrian Voice to encourage the various parishes/schools/universities to explore the possibility to take steps and send their parishioners to come and visit the Holy Land and spend more time in Bethlehem.
By so doing you are indirectly creating and sustaining jobs for a lot of families thereby help maintain the Christian heritage in the Land of Our Lord otherwise the situation will go on deteriorating with the number of Arab Christians dwindling rapidly.
I strongly urge you to give more thought to this idea and if you require references please do not hesitate to contact me.
You can reach our team by e-mail at tourism@aca.ps or at management@aca.ps or by telephone at+970 2 2741111 or by fax at +972 2 2742576.
Kind regards,
