There is much debate as to whether the Canadians truly have an unqiue, national identity. And in opposition to the merger would be many nationalists from both sides who wish to retain their individual national heritage/identity. Again, if people wish for others to consider the negatives, then begin listing some potential roadblocks and opposition to the thoery. I am more than happy to consider them and respond with my thoughts/counterarguments.

Indeed, I think we have considered the negatives to a certain extent, and I would like others to list what they would see as potential drawbacks.
I believe there should be a creation of a new country, making a compromise between the symbols and flags of both of the old countries. However, this may be hard to do with deep seeded patriotic sentiments. I could go on about this specific debate, but it would consume too much time and effort.
