I say that facetiously, but here is a tip:
Look at Craig's list (or talk to people in person) for painters that do work at auto body shops.
Many shops allow workers to do after hours work. That means projects like drum painting. To a good painter, painting shells is child's play compared to a car.
If you have built your DIY kit, or are restoring a kit, you can be rest assured that there is a painter near you than can shoot paint as good (in my case better than) Drum Workshop. That means your DIY Keller, or kit restoration need not be a wrap.
A wrap for a 5-pc kit runs $200-$300. A painter in most places outside California and New York City would re-paint your beloved kit for $250-$400 for a basic color. That's what it costs for a WRAP!
So remember, after you order your Am drum parts shells and hardware....check your local listings for a painter that will bring your DIY job equal to, or beyond that of DW, Sonor or anyone else.
