QUESTIONS WITHOUT EMAIL ADDRESS MAY VANISH!

I have made both wrapped and finished Keller shells. Based on my experience (going back to the 70's)wraps have nil effect.
If DW wanted to improve any vibration characteristics, they'd back off the size of their lugs.
DW brags (marketing ploy) about "voice matched" shells. Ok great...except for several pounds of hardware. 1-3/4" lugs act like a bunch of clamps on the shell to begin with (surface area) not to mention the weight. There are other drums (namely Keller shelled kits) using smaller lugs that resonate better than DW.
Going to smaller, lighter lugs from DW's lugs would change the shells vibration at least a little, whereas a wrap has no effect that anyone would notice.
Wraps advantage is to protect the shell. The disadvantage would be to hide the nice natural wood grain.
