I hear what you are saying about plastic and the non acoustics about it. I can say this, I have heard fiberglass guitars that sound incredible. It is a different concept than wraping, but it is synthetic. The only other thing I can say is that I can't argue with hearing the kit I played on that was wraped. As for my shells, I did get them from A & M. I play out two to three times a week and I have someone else setting up and taking down my gear. Coming up to festival season this summer, it will be even more times I play out in the week. My kit has gotten pretty FUGLY. It was a custom paint job, so touch ups are out. I have played on non-wrapped drums all my life, so I just had concern about the sound be affected. So if I do it, and I think I will, I guess A & M might be selling some new shells to me since I'll be needing a new kit if this doesn't work out. I'm not too worried about it, but I do apprecaite the opinions shared.
