Alex,
after seeing your post I thought i'd add my 2 cents worth. I've been playing drums in different Los Angeles and Orange County, Ca. bands for over 23 years. Right now i've got two kits. 1 DW and 1 Orange County Drum and Percussion kit, OCDP. The DW has DW shells that are supposed to be matched. The kit sounds incredible. My OCDP kit has Keller North American Maple Shells, the same as are sold here. 1 band likes the OCDP better, my other band likes the DW better? What i'm getting at is that you're used to playing on Tama Rockstar shells, I used to play a Tama Rockstar, wayyyyy back when and it's like comparing apples to oranges. I'll tell you this. Once you play a Keller Shelled kit you will be blown away, I was and still am. I mostly use the OCDP because I play live alot with my one band. Do yourself a favour, buy a kit, any kit with Keller Shells and you won't be dissapointed. I wasn't. There's a big reason why so many, "custom drum,"companies use Keller from OCDP to Spaun to SJC to C and C to Truth to you name it. Most companies rely on Kellers shells.
