If you are staining your shells or doing a natural finish we will gladly select some good looking shells that have similar grain patters for you.
Pitch matching was invented by a certain drum company to impress the easily baffled and in my opinion the theory is way out there in "LA LA" land, or perhaps Oxnard.
Think about it for three seconds. Is the pitch of the raw shell going to amount to much of a consideration after you drill about 28 holes in it and then screw on several pounds of hardware and then mount it somehow on your playing rig? Doubt it.
