Ok,
That's part of the reason I decided to stain some wood hoops to match a yamaha oak custom. The oak does everything I want.
Between that, and my upgraded acrolite (Awaiting Dunnett throwoff with shells and puresound snares.) I don't think I need any more "sounds."
It may have been worth a shot because any premade snare using that shell sells for over $600. DIY would come in at 1/2 that at most.
