Posted by AMDRUMPARTS on 8/6/2006, 11:55 am What's the best way? What Works for you? What is unacceptable to you? 2) I used a DW Rail system for a friend's kit and my friend junked it because the tom bounced around too much. The problem appeared to be with the section that attaches to the bass drum because it flexed. He went for a snare stand tom set up & it made the drum sound like a cardboard box! 3) Here's a (picture below) of the new Gibralter system, not bad as far as getting a drum where you want it, but since they have nearly the same part as a DW that attaches to the Bass Drum, it might let a tom bounce around also. 4) I would never mount my tom or toms to any kind of cymbal stand attachment brackets, just could never trust those things. Also I would never use a Floor tom basket system, who would ever want to carry around one of those pieces of furniture? Floor toms with legs already need to be dampened anyway. 5) In my opinion, the old school Walberg and Augie Rail Mount that Ludwig and other major drum companies used is the most stable of all, although you had to eventualy use pliers to tighten the wing nuts and the wings eventually wore out or broke. 5-1/2) Drilling a bass drum for a railmount holder or double tom system makes no difernce in sound quality. 6) None of the above matters much if you play lite jazz or something, but if you hit hard it does matter. 7)*** WHAT DO YOU THINK, WHAT DO YOU THINK, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

TOM MOUNTING....
Horror Story? Single Mount or Double mount. Best post/story here on this thread receives a FREE Snare
drum we already have made up . Your story can be true or not... we don't care!

In regards to Rail Mounts:
1) In my opinion looks like the Dunnett is nice but it might have stability issues due to the non-screwed on side of the bottom portion. I have not actually tried one out, what do you think?
RCI Vistalite has reproductions but the cost $100 cause the can't get a bulk manufacturing price since the demand is so low.
