I picked up an AT Pro last week in Edmonton. I'm brand new to metal detecting, but I read a lot of positive things about this detector. I've been reading over the posts on this forum and I'm looking forward to finding some places to test out my Pro.
Are there many restrictions within Alberta on where a person can or can't metal detect? I've searched around the net but haven't seen a whole lot. I just don't want to go somewhere to test it out and end up with a fine or something. I've read the code of ethics and I'm all for preserving the past and not trespassing on private land, cleaning up after myself, etc. Unfortunately I live in a small town, so that limits the amount of places for me to hunt. Hopefully I'll be able to connect with the owners of some old farm properties.
Anyway, any advice would be appreciated and I look forward to sharing some stories of my finds and chatting with everyone about tips and tricks.
