yep campgrounds can be pretty trashy, but usually enough goodies to make it interesting...found a gold ring in a campground once.
If there is a beach or water, thats a bonus.
I hunt a campground every year, it was an old picnic spot a hundred years ago and I have pulled out some nice old coins etc from that site.
You dont know whats there until you try!
