What about getting ahold of Garrett or Whites and see if anyone has the same issue as yourself. Someone may have built a device you can plug into the detectors headset plug that would create a vibration instead, this way you would be able to feel the hit, might work? I could ask my Master Electrician to see what he thinks, heck maybe he could build it.
