Hey David...if you stick with the major manufactures you really cant go wrong. They all make a good entry level detector that will find tons of stuff. The Garrett Ace 250 is a good example of a very reasonable priced detector that has all the bells and whistles you could want. The Tesoro Silver umax has less features but is a very easy detector to operate and will find 99% of the tagets a far more expensive machine will find. Fisher, Teknetics also have great less expensive detectors. Sniff around the websites, forums and see what features you think are important to you, pick one, pull the trigger and go out and dig up some stuff.
