Old church sites here usually give up a few goodies, but the three old one room school sites we've hunted were pretty much a bust. One didn't give up a single coin, one a single coin, an indian head penny, and at the other one we only found two early wheaties. Overall buttons were the predominate finds and very few of those, but this was a very poor area. Almost all of the students were sharecroppers kids and prior to 1921, when the schools were consolidated and all the one room schools either closed or more rooms were added, there was no money for kids to lose. To find as many coins at those sites as you have is really something.
