Amazing how many people have never seen nor heard of a standard coil-type metal detector. I've been asked 'is it safe to play in the park?' : ) Of course I oblige them with a reasonable response. It's the snotty children with their equally snotty parents that insist on asking in as monotonic a drone .. what are you looking for?? There are three reasonable come-backs .. I'm looking for some peace and quiet OR what have you lost? OR I'm looking for ..... the answer to your question. None of which seem to satisfy people particularly well. You can really bring out the true hidden moron in people with a metal detector. I'm confident everyone has had adults start tossing change in the grass in front of you .. I just turn and detect somewheres else. Usually they get the message. People's moronic powers are truly amazing at times. Kids can be forgiven of course but parents really need to get off the prozac or whatever it is that confining them into the pre-Cambrian technological era. OK rant over.
