I'm pretty sure if you find a very valuable item,there are laws to follow.But generally we find the odd gold ring,if no ID finders keepers in my opinion.IF has some ID you can get a free add in the papers.But we rarely have this concearn not easy to find treasures,just ask Willy,Marc,Rod,and everyone elsewhat happened to CC?I miss the old days of this forum until people got politically correct and moved to greener pastures.
