It would be a good idea to set up bank accounts if you haven't already done so. Most landlords I know prefer standing orders for direct debit. I might bring several thousand in traveller cheques, but use a debit card whenever possible. I have found you get better exchange rates than doing business in banks...AND many banks won't cash cheques without an account. You'll want one at some point, any way. One thing, be sure to check with the bank(s) of your ATM cards to know what charges might apply and how many withdrawals (both amount/day or week and frequency).
