Hi Annetta
I'm an American living in Ireland and I want to bring my 18yr old nephew over for the summer.Last week I went into my local garda station and asked what I would need to do as it seems the airport officers are reluctant to issue a 90day stamp.
I heard almost exactly what Scott says in his reply below.
I must be at the airport to meet my nephew.
He must carry a letter from me with MY garda information , stating that I will support him for his stay. It was stressed that my nephew may not work !!
He also must have proof of medical insurance and his return ticket.
My local garda said that if the airport still doesn't issue the 90day stamp then he would do it for me.
I suggest that you go into your local garda information and ask about the 6mos stay. I honestly think that your mother will be ok under the circumstances. CJ's suggestion of taking your husband along with you is excellent.
The local garda officers are very reasonable.
Cheers , Cheri
