Hi Annetta,
I went through a lot of hassle trying to get my time here extended by the immigration office. It's important to know that the 90 days isn't automatic, you'll have to prove that your grandmother is able to support herself and isn't planning to stay.
While this certainly isn't the legally advisable route to go, a lot of people I've spoken with are living here illegally. They come into the country claiming that they're on holiday then they just stay. It would likely burn bridges for future visits (customs would see that she outstayed her welcome) but she's unlikely to have anything happen to her in the relatively short time she's here. Just something to think about.
