I am from Canada myself and was previously living in Cork City. I was on a year working visa but wanted to extend it. I went to the Garda station in the city and showed that I had a place to live and enough funds to support myself and they extended it for another 6 months no problem. I'd say that if you can show the same things for your mother it should be ok, but part of me thinks that it really depends on the person working that day too. Good luck. |
: Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows how a
: person can stay in Ireland for 6 months.
: I'm a Canadian living in Ireland with my
: Irish born husband. I'd love to try and get
: my mother (living in Canada) here for a 6mos
: visit to spend with her new grandchild. I've
: checked and as a visitor you're only
: permitted to stay for a maximum of 90 days.
: I've contacted the Irish Embassy in Ottawa
: and have been told repeatedly that there is
: absolutely no way that she can stay here for
: more than 90 days.
: I've looked into work visas (which would be
: next to impossible to arrange for her).
: There's also the working holiday visa to
: Ireland but you have to be between 18-35 to
: If anyone has been in this situation before,
: please can you let me know.
