I just want to say that it's possible to exist in the modern world without TV. We were such addicts that when we moved to Ireland with out young kids - budding young screen savers that they were - we decided as part of the move that we wouldn't buy a TV.
Talk about withdrawal symptoms! Those first two weeks were like going off heroin or something.
But, then we started using the local library heavily and the kids started reading and getting their fix only when they visited friends and 18 years later our proud boast is that this is one tax that we've totally avoided. That's more than 3,000 Euro - or its equivalent in purchasing power - that we've saved.
Or squandered on books, actually. But, hey an addict will always find something...
