Firstly i am 39 so a work visa is out of the question , the link between myself and my grandparent is unbroken so it is a matter of tracing her birth or death cert . Also what would be called sufficient funds. Ie a weekly amount till we get married ?

: First thing you might want to investigate is
: the holiday work visa available to aussie
: citizens below the age of 30, I think it is.
: Details on the free site Work section, Work
: permit page.
:
: Second, simply having an Irish grandparent
: does not automatically equate to Irish
: citizenship. The citizenship line has to be
: unbroken - grandmother, your mother or
: father, yourself. More details on the
: Paperwork and Passports section, citizenship
: page.
:
: Third, extensions are a subjective matter
: where the individual Immigration Official
: has a fair amount of leeway. You'd have to
: give a good reason, show you have the
: resources to stay, show you have health
: insurance and in your case show why an
: additional 3 months would make a difference
: in your search. Is your grandmother still
: living?
:
: As to your partner, you don't mention their
: nationality which is the critical factor in
: all this. Even with an Irish spouse, a newly
: married non-EU citizen can be denied
: permission to remain in Ireland is there are
: not sufficient funds on the part of your
: Irish spouse. For more, check the
: Immigration Service website at
: http://www.inis.gov.ie under the
: immigration and visa sections.
:
: Good luck,
: Scott

: Currently i am trying to find my Irish
: grandmother and as you know this can be a
: difficult process , im doing this as to get
: my irish citizenship so i can move to
: Ireland to be with my partner . What i am
: wondering is . Am i able to get an extension
: on my stay past 90 days for the purpose of
: finding her ? I am an aussie citizen and non
: visa required secondly my partner and i are
: planning on getting married in maybe 6
: months . I have accomodation with my partner
: and a few thousand euro and my partner is
: prepared to support me if my funds run out .
: Can you give me some advice on which way
: would be the best and safest course to take
: , Thanks Steve
