As has been stated many times there are the rules and then it can depend on who you see. The Immigration Officer in Tullamore gave my son 2 extensions on his first visit and said that was his limit. So that was 9 months to remain in Ireland. You should be able to get a three month extension from your local IO to stay for 6 months. It was actually quite easy. He then went in and out several times while waiting the 2 years it took to get his green card. The only questions at Dublin airport was if he got a female officer, someday when I receive citizenship I will ask them why they have different training than the mem. LOL

: First let me say that I have a close friend I
: visit two times a year in Ireland however
: now I am thinking of visiting longer or even
: retiring to Ireland.
:
: My immediate questions are how long can I go
: to Ireland before I overstay? Can I over
: stay? I have been over twice this year for
: total of three months so far but want to go
: back for two months each time in July and
: then again Oct/Nov and stay the winter
: return in Feb.
:
: Do I need a visa now- like a multi-trip visa
: or do I register with garda. I would hate
: to get turned away at the Dublin airport.
: Aer lingues says I can go as many times as I
: want but...? any insight would be greatly
: appreciated
