It's been almost eight years since I moved here (Pre 9/11), but I simply mailed several boxes over. I can't remember the exact details, but check into surface mail. I think it took about eight or nine weeks. There were restrictions as far as box size and weight--but they were still big boxes and it was certainly cheaper than other alternatives--plus, it would give you a bit of time.
