Thank you, that really helps
I've recently been over but should be back in August, I've got a teaching position in Birmingham until Easter at least so am planning on learning Irish in the next few months, whether i'll be able to get a job in Ireland to use it is another matter but I like to learn languages anyway.
I think I'm more likely to move over in 2-3 years as I'd like to be financially sound should any problems arise.
I'll definitly look more into it and have it as my aim for the future
xx

: Citizens of the UK and Ireland enjoy
: interchangeable rights - the right to work
: without getting a work permit, live and buy
: property without hindrance or visas, even
: vote in every election except for
: constitutional changes. You don't even need
: a passport to come here since we share a
: common travel area.
:
: Your teaching credentials, I believe, are
: honoured here. But................
:
: Young teachers who have been in the system
: for years and years are being let go at an
: unbelievable rate. One of the two teaching
: colleges is not accepting incoming students
: because of the glut on on the market.
:
: As a primary teacher, you will have to be
: able to teach Irish and have passed an
: honours level exam in the subject. So, its
: not just a cupla focal, as they say. You'll
: have to be reasonably fluent.
:
: Most primary schools are catholic
: denomination and you will be expected to
: teach catholic religion and prepare kids for
: communion and confirmation.
:
: If all that doesn't put you off, check out
: the papers for possible positions.

: Good luck. This year in particular, you'll
: need it. My advice would be to come over on
: vacation, speak to a primary principal or
: two to get a feel for what's required and
: happening out there. Enjoy the vacation and
: IF you get a lead toward a job, then good
: for you. But, no harm done except, we all
: pray, a bit of a tan, if nothing comes of
: it.

: Hiya,
: I've been looking into moving to Galway/Tipp
: pref near portumna/terryglass (family
: friends live there). I've just graduated as
: a Primary Teacher and wondered what the
: demand for teachers is? I've trained in
: Birmingham so am used to travelling long
: distances.
:
: I'm 21 and my boyfriend is 26, other than
: that I need to learn Irish I'm not sure what
: I would need to do, as I'm from England I
: wouldn't need a visa would I? What sort of
: declarations would I need for residency?
:
: Thanks xxx
